What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing discrepancies in asset depreciation calculations when additional acquisition costs are added. Specifically, the system is calculating fewer depreciation days than expected, leading to confusion regarding the depreciation amounts for the corresponding months.

Reason:
The system recalculates depreciation from the date of the new acquisition cost posting, which can lead to only partial depreciation being calculated for the month in which the acquisition occurs. This behavior is expected when the options "Depr. until FA Posting Date" and "Depr. Acquisition Cost" are not selected during the posting of additional acquisition costs.

Resolution:

  • Ensure that the options "Depr. until FA Posting Date" and "Depr. Acquisition Cost" are selected when posting additional acquisition costs. This will ensure that depreciation is calculated for the days before the acquisition posting date and for the new cost as well.
  • Review the FA Ledger Entries and Depreciation Book to confirm that the system settings align with expected behavior.
  • If discrepancies persist, consult with the support team to analyze the setup and determine if any third-party customizations are influencing the depreciation calculations.
