Applies to Product - Dynamics 365 Business Central
What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing delays in the activation of Power BI licenses within Dynamics Business Central, with reports indicating that it can take up to three days for the licenses to reflect on user accounts after assignment. Users may encounter error messages stating they do not have a Power BI account despite having a Power BI Pro license assigned.
Reason:
The delays in license activation may be related to the synchronization of users from Microsoft 365 to Business Central. Additionally, multiple tabs open in Business Central can prevent changes from being applied effectively.
Resolution:
Update Users from Microsoft 365:
- Navigate to the Users section in Business Central.
- Select the option "Update Users from Microsoft 365" and follow the procedure to ensure that the user list is updated immediately.
- After updating users, access the Effective Permissions option to ensure that the system applies the updates implemented.
- If a Power BI Pro license has just been assigned, wait for up to 30 minutes to an hour to allow the license to fully propagate across all services, including Power BI.
- Ensure that the Business Central account is linked with the Power BI service. Navigate to My Settings in Business Central and verify that the Power BI integration is configured correctly.
- Verify that the user has the appropriate permissions and roles assigned within Business Central for accessing Power BI content.
- Clear the browser cache and cookies, or use InPrivate or Incognito Mode to log into Business Central and Power BI. Alternatively, try using a different browser to ensure the issue is not related to the current session.
