What’s happening?
The OCR functionality in the expense management app is not working as expected. When users attempt to capture receipts, the app fails to extract relevant data such as date and price, and instead, the receipt image is simply attached without any data conversion.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this may relate to the configuration settings required for the OCR functionality to operate correctly. Specifically, the necessary service add-ins and feature management settings may not be enabled in the environment.
Resolution:
- Ensure that the Expense Management Service add-in is installed in the Lifecycle Services (LCS) for the dedicated environment (production/UAT).
- Enable the following features from Feature Management in Finance and Operations:
- 'Expense reports re-imagined'
- 'Auto-match and create expense from receipt'
- Verify if the OCR functionality works on the Finance and Operations web interface, as the issue may be isolated to the mobile app.
- Check the Automatic Receipt Capture settings to confirm that the Receipt Capture URL is correctly configured under the Expense Management parameters for the company.
