What’s happening?
Customers are encountering errors when attempting to convert old projects after upgrading to Project Operations. The specific error messages include "User does not have license to use 'Project Operation' with 'ReadWrite' access" and "Unable to convert externally scheduled project."


Reason:
The Project Operations license does not include a Project Service Automation (PSA) license. Users with a PSA license cannot access Project Operations, and the necessary license for Project Operations may not be assigned to the user attempting to access it. Additionally, there may be compatibility issues with the project data format or corrupted project files.


Resolution:

  1. Ensure that the user has the correct Project Operations license assigned. If the user only has a PSA license, they will need to obtain the appropriate Project Operations license.
  2. If the error "Unable to convert externally scheduled project" occurs, check the error logs for the specific project by opening the project and navigating to Related PSS Error Logs. Complete error logs can be found at Settings > PSS Error Logs in the Project Operations app.
  3. Confirm that the environment is not in Administration mode and that Background operations are enabled, as these settings are required for project conversion.
