What’s happening?
The customer is unable to activate Costing Versions (standard costs for all direct and indirect costs) on a date that is not the current system date. The system currently activates the Costing Version based on the system date, which is today's date.
Reason:
This arises because the system checks whether the Session Date equals the System Date when activating the Costing Version from the Costing Version Setup form. If the Session Date is equal to the System Date, the activation date defaults to the System Date. If the Session Date is not equal to the System Date, the activation will still be effective from the System Date only. This strict checking is enforced to prevent incorrect and unwanted Costing Version activations, which could lead to data inconsistency and incorrect calculations.
Resolution:
- To activate pending cost (standard cost) at a specified future date rather than immediately, a batch job can be scheduled to run in the exact time/date we want the pricing to take effect.
- Navigate to Cost Management > Predetermined cost policies setup > Costing Version
- Select the costing version (standard cost) that needs to be activated at a future date
- Click “Activate” to start the process
- Under the "Run in background" tab, enable “Batch processing”
- Under the "Recurrence" section, specify the desired future date for the activation
- Optionally, filters can be used to limit the records included in the activation
- Click "OK" to finalize the setup and schedule the batch job
- The customer can activate the indirect costs individually, which allows for activation on a specified date.
- If required, partners can provide customizations to enable the activation of the Costing Version from an earlier date.
- For further assistance, the customer should reach out to the support team for additional information or to discuss potential customizations.
