What’s happening?
The expected date on sales order lines is incorrectly showing as today's date instead of the requested ship date when orders are created in the Customer Engagement (CE) system and transferred to Finance and Operations (F&O) via dual-write. This results in local warehouses being overwhelmed with stock they do not yet need, causing operational inefficiencies and delays in fulfilling urgent orders.

Reason:
This arises from the incorrect expected date on sales order inventory transactions when created from CE via dual-write. It has been observed that when a sales order is placed in CE and carried to F&O, the expected date does not match the requested ship date. However, when an order is created directly in F&O, the expected date aligns correctly with the requested ship date.

Resolution:

  • Verify the mappings used for the CDS sales order. If custom mappings are in place, consider switching to standard mappings to see if this persists.
  • Test the creation of sales orders using the latest CDS Sales order line V2 entity and observe the expected date behavior.
  • If the expected date is still incorrect, check if the issue is related to the transport days and sales lead time configurations.
  • Engage with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team to further investigate the issue, as it appears to be a regression in the code that needs to be addressed by the product team.
  • If necessary, schedule a meeting with the SCM team to discuss the issue in detail and explore potential fixes or workarounds.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, further internal testing and analysis may be required to identify the root cause and implement a solution.
