What’s happening?
The sales order line numbers for products are displaying non-integer values such as 1.5 or 1.75 instead of whole numbers.
Reason:
This arises when data is integrated with another system that only supports integer values. As a result, decimal values are rounded, leading to duplicate line numbers and operational errors.
Resolution:
- When creating sales orders in Dynamics 365, ensure that the line item numbers are set to display as integers.
- If the issue occurs, it has been confirmed that adding lines between existing detail lines can result in decimal values being displayed (e.g., 1.5, 1.75).
- A workaround is to use the "Line creation sequence number" field, which will display as an integer.
- Further investigation may require confirming the steps to reproduce the issue, including capturing the process of creating a sales order and checking the line numbers in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
