What’s happening?
The customer is experiencing a failure when reporting as finished from the production floor execution, which results in the creation of unposted picking list journals. An error message stating "location must be specified" appears if a reservation was not done properly, leading to issues in subsequent attempts.
Reason:
This arises when the picking list is generated automatically during reporting, but a proper reservation is not made. This results in the system creating unposted picking lists that must be manually deleted by users in the system.
Resolution:
- Ensure that the "issue status after raw material picking" is set to reserved physical.
- Verify that the BOM lines flushing principle is set to finish to allow for automatic picking list generation.
- If the error "location must be specified" occurs, check the reservation status and ensure that it is done correctly before attempting to report as finished again.
- If unposted picking lists are left in the system, users must manually delete these lists in the system before retesting the process.
- For scenarios involving multiple batches, ensure that both batches are properly reserved and that the picking list includes the necessary dimensions to avoid errors during backflushing.
