What’s happening?
The customer is seeking guidance on how to install the Asset Management V2 solution for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and link it to a development virtual machine (VM) database.

Reason:
The environment in question does not have a linked Dataverse, which is required for the installation of the Asset Management solution. Additionally, the Power Platform Integration (PPI) is not enabled for the current cloud-hosted environment (CHE), preventing the connection to Dataverse.

Resolution:

  1. Verify if the Asset Management solution is applicable for the current cloud-hosted environment (CHE).
  2. Refer to the official installation guidance for the Asset Management solution:
  3. Onboard the Asset Management mobile app - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn.
  4. The solution must be installed in an environment linked with a Dataverse.
  5. Documentation link: Onboard the Asset Management mobile app.
  6. Since the current environment does not have a linked Dataverse, it is recommended to proceed with a sandbox environment instead of the CHE for installation and testing purposes.
  7. Note that Power Platform Integration cannot be enabled after the environment has been deployed. It must be set up during the initial deployment of the cloud-hosted environment.
  8. If the Asset Management solution needs to be tested from the LCS environment, a Unified Development Experience (UDE) environment managed in Power Platform Admin Center (PPAC) should be used for both development and Asset Management installation and testing.
