What’s happening?
The customer is inquiring about the impact of leaving Azure resources in the Central US region while migrating only specific components of their Finance and Operations applications to the East US region.

Reason:
It was confirmed that a region migration will have no effect on Azure resources that were provisioned in a different region. However, if there is a need to change the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) to the new region, the old resource must be deleted, and a new resource should be set up in the preferred region. Additionally, it was noted that the Azure Data service the customer is trying to set up has been deprecated by Microsoft.

Resolution:

  • Review the environment migration process documentation provided by Microsoft, which does not mention any compatibility issues with Azure resources being in different regions.
  • If the customer wishes to change their Azure resources to the new region, they must delete the old resources and create new ones in the desired region.
  • Transition to Azure Synapse, which offers enhanced capabilities and support, as the Azure Data service has been deprecated.
  • For further assistance, the customer can refer to the documentation on transitioning from legacy data integration services to Azure Synapse.
