Two dropdowns that have the same SharePoint list as its data source

Hi,

I have a forms app, that has SharePoint list as its data source. The first dropdown is on new form and the second is an edit form. When I open the edit form, the dropdown resets and is not showing the option selected and submitted in new form screen. Also the edit screen has some extra info to fill out, so I can't just delete it and use only one screen.

I know there is a solved solution on it here:

Solved: Sync multiple dropdowns so they all show the most ... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

But I can't get it to work, it keeps giving me error message after error message. I have looked and tried to find another way or a way that's differently explained, but with no success.

Can anyone give some tips or guidelines

Thank you

Hi @NW3st, there's a couple of ways of doing this depending on what exactly is going on in your app.

I'm imagining that a user will get a screen with a new form, fill some stuff in, then move to a second screen which edits the form he just submitted? Is that correct?

A couple of screenshots from your app would make this easier to work out.

    Hi

User gets a screen with new form, fills that out, then saves(to SharePoint list). Is taken back to the main screen where there is gallery of all those forms and then there is the edit button witch takes user to the same form but with additional info to fill out (the point is that the user starts filling the form on the phone with info needed at the spot and later can finish on the pc or phone).

Here comes my problem, in the form there is a dropdown to pick options from, but when user navigates to edit, the dropdown resets and doesn't show the data user just inputted via dropdown.

Sorry, but I currently can't provide screenshots.

Is the edit form a different form and screen than the new form?

No and yes, it is the same SharePoint list, I just added additional fields to display on edit form, with that I had to make a new edit screen that fills it with already submitted info. So basically I have 3 screens: the main screen, new form and edit form

    I got it,

When moving from main screen I set a new variable: variableA.ThisItem

And in the dropdown of screen 2, in the Default I set it to: variableA.'That column of SharePoint list'

Do the users complete the first screen and then right after the second one? or they might do another actions in between?

If it is the first case, maybe you can try to store the selected/input values from the first screen into variables and then setting those variables as the default values for the second screen's controls.
