Help building a teacher check in and out app

Currently teachers have to manually write on a piece a paper when they are in and out of the building. I'm hoping to build an app a place a iPad at the front desk for teachers to find their name and click a check in or out button which will automatically record the time stamp. I'd like the data to be save a location so that the front desk receptionist will have access to view who is in and out.

Has anyone created anything like this at their schools?

    Hi @Terrencew

    You could create another page in your app that is only accessed by an admin/receptionist email. This would show a gallery listing all the check ins / check outs.

    Thanks Aaron - Can help me out to get started building this app? I think I'm looking to just create an app with 2 buttons. One that says Check in, and another that says Check out. I'd like a drop-down menu also that list all staff names that they can select....  Then how to create another page as you suggested that is shows a gallery listing all the check ins / check outs that only specified people can access.

    Yes, I can help you build this app.

    For screen 1 (Check in/Check out Screen):

    • I would make your check in/check out buttons visible once a name is selected from the drop down menu
    • Reset the dropdown once buttons are pressed
    • Have a button on screen that is only visible to admin, this would navigate to the other screen

    For screen 2 (Admin Screen):

    • Add gallery of all check in/check out

    Once you get started a bit I can help with what you get stuck on.

    Hi Arron,

    I have my main screen setup. I'm not quite sure how to make the buttons visible once a name is selected from the drop-down menu, and how to reset the dropdown once buttons are selected.

    I have this formula for the Check-in button but I think it's incorrect. Not sure what I'm missing.

    To make buttons visible once a user is selected, place the below code into the Visible property of the buttons.

    !IsBlank(ComboBox1);

    The buttons will also have to have a Patch function to record the data of the user checking in/checking out. (Also placed in the OnSelect property of the buttons. Before resetting the combo box.)

    To reset the combobox once the user clicks check in/check out, place the below code into the OnSelect property of the buttons.

    Reset(ComboBox1);

    I decided to just have one save button. Followed your instructions and set the visble to appear when name is selected.

    Running into an issue with the patch syntax. If you look at the screenshot below, I created a command for the Status drop down (check-in/check-out), and the DateTime drop boxes.

    1. I'm getting an error with my patch formula can you please tell me what I missed?
    2. Do you have the patch formula to record the combox office365 names to my sharepoint list?

    Truly appreciate all your help!

    Try this Patch function:

    Patch('Check In and Check out',
     Defaults('Check In and Check out'),
     {
     Status: ComboBox2.Selected.Value,
     DateTime: Now()
     }
    )
