Strategies for Partial Portal Deployment in a Complex Multi-Language Environment

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a significant challenge with our enterprise portal deployment process and am curious how others in similar DevOps roles are managing this.

Our portal is quite large—over 3000 components and more than 50 tables, supporting multiple languages. Currently, when I need to deploy a change to a single multistep web form (or any specific page/metadata segment) from DEV to STG to PROD, I'm forced to include the entire site in the solution. This approach results in deployments taking upwards of 3 hours each time.

With all the advancements in pipeline support and Git integration, it's surprising that such granular ALM functionality isn't available or straightforward. Additionally, I encountered a new issue: the XRMToolbox portal record mover plugin no longer recognizes the site because Microsoft has changed the prefix from adx_website to something else.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully segmented portal deployments by form/page without including the full site?
  2. What workarounds or best practices have you implemented to manage partial deployments effectively in a multi-environment setup?
  3. Are there alternative tools or strategies that can handle the prefix change issue and streamline the ALM process?

Any insights, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help.

Perhaps not the comprehensive response you need, but I think XRM portal records mover is the best way to migrate parts of a Portal, is the issue now that it doesn't work in general or because you're moving adx_records to ms_dyn

The change in prefix is as a result of the enhanced data model - so one imperfect option might be to create a site in the target environment on the standard model so PRM took works?
