On Premise Dynamics 2011 and Portals

Hi all,

 

According to Microsoft, we can use Data Gateways to connect Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Logic Apps with on premises data

 

But does it also work for Portals? If not, what would be the recommended way of connection a On Prem Dynamics 2011 with Portals? If there is one.

 

Bare in mind that I don't want to deploy my own portals with the open source code.

    Hi @the365bit ,

     

    You don't connect directly to Power Apps Portal. Instead you need to connect to CDS as Power Apps Portal is built on top of it. So to use Power Apps Portal you will need to have CDS that is connected to your on premise data source.

    Hi @OOlashyn 

     

    I don't want to deal with synchronization, if I do what you suggest and connect my on prem with CDS I'll need to have a sync process in place, When working with Canvas Apss and Model Driven Apps you can use Data Gateway to connect them directly with the onprem data source.

     

    I'd like to know if we can achieve this behavior with portals as well.

    Hi @the365bit ,

     

    To use Power Apps Portal you need to have CDS. Portals cannot be connected via data gateway the same way as Canvas or Model Driven apps does.
