App Co-Owner - only admins can set a group as co-owner?

So in sharing an app to ensure it is maintainable should someone leave/change departments/whatever.

When a user (including an admin user) selects share from the app screen. Then selects a domain group from AAD. The Co-owner checkbox is disabled when that group is highlighted. If a single user is added. The Co-Owner checkbox is now enabled.

When an admin (same admin as above) goes into admin center. Selects Resources -> Power Apps , Share and adds the same AAD. The Co-owner checkbox is now enabled for assignment.

Why can a user not assign a group as co-owner? This would allow easy assignment of all Group-Devs to any app in the environment. Easing administrative overhead. Or is there some way to enable this in the developer ui as it is in the admin ui?

My groups are security groups in this case. not o365 groups. o365 groups aren't selectable at all in this scenario.

A few more trial and error. It appears you can assign a group as co-owner IF you are a member of it. But not otherwise. Glad the security of powerapps is such a disaster and poorly documented even though there are reams of pages about it.

Good Day!!
It is definitely possible to choose the security group as co-owner for an app.

Login to https://make.powerapps.com
Choose your environment.
Click on Apps ->App (you want to share) ->click on 3 dots->Share
In the Co-owner lookup type your security group name.
Allocate a security role in case specific to app which needs to be allocated all users of group.
Click on share.
You will see that App is shared 🙂

(Please Note: If your App uses any separate connections/SharePoint list you need to share them as well separately)

It is also possible that you are trying to do this in the default environment and it is not available there (possibly by setting). In that case, you would likely need to have a Power Apps admin do this from the admin console.
