Can I build a Power App & Share it with external users for Data Entry purposes?

Hi,

I am looking at building a project time card system in Power Apps. Whereby our fitters are able to log the times they have worked on a particular project, add notes and expenses etc.

My aim is to have all the data stored in SharePoint as I am fairly familiar with that and I like using it as my data source. The installers would use the app via their phones to select their project and add their times in etc. This project list would be constantly updating so another member of the team (admin) could also use the app via a pc in the office to add new projects and generate reports etc...

I have a good idea on how to build this, but I am a bit stuck on how to share it with external users - if that is even possible with the current license our business has.

The installers would be the external users as they don't have a Business Microsoft account as they don't need it day-to-day. They would just be using the app to log their times.  However, the admin who would maintain all the data and update the projects etc does have an account and already have access to PowerApps etc as part of the Office 365 package.

Would I able to create this app as a Canvas App and share it with our installers, if even possible? Or would this proposed app need to be a Portal App? If that how would I go about that as I have never created a Portal App?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Note: I did consider using Microsoft Forms as a possible way for the installers to input the data into the SharePoint list. Then use PowerApps for the admin to manipulate/view the data etc, but Microsoft Forms wouldn't really work due to all the variables associated with the different projects we work on. And our installers are looking for something quick and simply and not have to scroll through pages of questions in Microsoft Forms.

Hello, short answer is yes, but you need to ask your environment administrator to associate a license with the external user's email, otherwise they won't be able to access.

Thanks! If the installers had the basic license would they be able to interact with powerapps on their phones. I understand that with the basic you can't access MOS apps on the desktop - but that wouldn't be needed for this project, as they would only be using their phones.
