MySQL Connector - Gateway did not receive a response within the specified time period

I am trying to connect to a MySQL database on the same machine as my on-premises data gateway.
I have configured my gateway and SQL connectors well enough to get a list of tables:

However, when I try to Get Rows of even the smallest table (only has 6 rows):

I get:

Any help would be appreciated.

Why on earth not? I haven't seen anywhere where it says it's not recommended and surely it is only going to increase response times if it has to make further hops over the internet to other machines!

gateways are not sharers. They will consume all the compute and all the memory on their VM and squeeze out any other occupants. Like a little cuckoo.

I use this gateway for other connections to our local network without any worries.
I don't see it consuming loads of resources.
However, I'll spin up a new VM and use that as the gateway and see if that makes a difference. 🙂
