Expected Record Value error when doing lookup from ComboBox

Hi Guys,

Hope anyone can help.

I want to set default Department information in a ComboBox based on the the Employee Number (Text input) entered in a Text Field.

The formula I use is: LookUp(Table1,'Employee Number'= DataCardValue2.Text,Department)

I can see the Department info displaying in the Fx box but I get the error Expected Record Value and then no text is displayed in the ComboBox.

How can I set the default Department value based on Employee Number entered. Table1 is a spreadsheet on OneDrive for Business. See attachment as well.

Will really appreciate any help re this issue. Many thanks

    Hi @fransk ,

    Firstly, this is the Items of the combo box (not the default)

    LookUp(
     Table1,
     'Employee Number'= DataCardValue2.Text
    ).Department

     Your DefaultSelectedItems would be something like

    {Department: ThisItem.Department.Value}

    Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

    Hi @WarrenBelz ,

    I can not use your suggested Fx in the Items of the ComboBox. I get Expected Table value error as well.

    LookUp(
     Table1,
     'Employee Number'= DataCardValue2.Text
    ).Department

     See screenshot attached.

    @fransk ,

    Yes - brain fade there - try

    Filter(
     Table1,
     'Employee Number'= DataCardValue2.Text
    )

    then put Department in the field required at the right.

    Hi @WarrenBelz ,

    Filter(Table1, 'Employee Number'= DataCardValue2.Text).Department in DefaultSelectedItems did the trick.

    Many thanks for your effort and time. It is sincerely appreciated.

    Regards from Cape Town.
