Let portal make external party

Hello Powerapps people 🙂

If I let someone else make a powerportal with their own Microsoft account, can they just send that to me and let me be the owner?

Or does it have to be made with my account to get it?

Thanks!

    Hi @MCdyna

The simple answer is "yes" they can make you an owner if both belong to the same organization.

    Hope it helps.

But this is not the case.. We are not the same organization.

Is there another way to let an external consultant build my PowerApps Portal without giving him my credentials?

And with a Canvas app? Would it be possible to get an App from somebody outside my organization?

    Hi   @MCdyna

You can share your portals or canvas app with "external" other users so they can browse and use this portal.

If you want some of your consultants to work on your organization. Below are the rules

    User access requirements

    • Enabled in Azure Active Directory
    • Has an active license
    • Member of the environment's security group ( System admin or System customiser )

In layman's terms, you can create an account for your consultant (office 365 account and assign a Power Apps license) - this will enable an entry in the Azure Active directory and give appropriate permissions  ( third bullet point)

To avoid power apps licensing costs initially. you can sign up for a dev plan

    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/developerplan/

They can build a prototype or POC here and migrate it to test and prod at a later stage.

    Hope it helps.

Oke, just checking if I understand: If a consultant builds an app and sends me the zip file, I will not be the owner when I import that zip file?

    For canvas App:

While exporting the package, make sure he selects "Create as new" as an import setup.

Once he sends the Zip file, you can import it then you will become the owner of the app

    For Portals:

My below reply i.e. you need to create an office 365 account, assign a security role, and a license.

    Hope it helps.
