Filtering Gallery help

The goal is to sort available gallery data to show clients who are Active in the veterans' program or a Graduate.
I have both SharePoint data sources attached to this application
Sort(
    Filter(
        'Clients Sign Out Sheet',
        ClientId.ClientStatus = "Active" &&
        (ClientId.Program = "Veterans" || ClientId.Graduate = "Yes")
    ),
    Created,
    SortOrder.Descending
)

I am getting an error on (ClientId.Program = "Veterans" || ClientId.Graduate = "Yes") the equal signs: Incompatible types for comparison. Both of these are choice columns in SharePoint
I have tried the following as well:
 Sort( Filter( 'Clients Sign Out Sheet', ClientId.ClientStatus = "Active" && ClientId.Program.Value = "Veterans" || ClientId.Graduate.Value = "Yes") ), Created, SortOrder.Descending )
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sort(
    Filter(
        'Clients Sign Out Sheet',
        ClientId.ClientStatus = "Active" &&
        (Value(ClientId.Program) = "Veterans" || (Value(ClientId.Graduate = "Yes")
    )),
    Created,
    SortOrder.Descending
)
Any help is much appreciated on this

    Hi @thomasw1964

    Try this formula,

    Sort(
    Filter(
    'Clients Sign Out Sheet',
    ClientId.ClientStatus.Value = "Active" &&
    (ClientId.Program.Value = "Veterans" || ClientId.Graduate.Value = "Yes")
    ),
    Created,
    SortOrder.Descending
    )

    Thanks!

    Try this formula instead of your formula,

    Sort(
    Filter(
    'Clients Sign Out Sheet',
    ClientStatus = "Active" &&
    (Program.Value = "Veterans" || Graduate = "Yes")
    ),
    Created,
    SortOrder.Descending
    )

    I wouldn't expect that to work since we are not telling it to reference the other list attached
