I have an app build on SharePoint list. There is 'Person or Group' field named 'Staff member' on that list. I can get employees name by doing Choices([@'SP list name'].'Staff member') in FormViever. So the question is, is it possible to get employees section as well? How do I do that?

Hope you are doing well. If I understood your question.
The default property of data card for SM Section would be StaffMemberDataCard.Selected.Section.
Considering that Section is one of the claim of the SM.
Item property will remain same.

Sorry, but it seems StaffMemberDataCard doesn't have a .Selected property.

Do you want to display person column in your detail form?
Could you please just set the DefaultSelectedItems property of the data card value as below:
ThisItem.'Staff member'
