Send an email when canvas app form is completed

Hi There

I got a canvas app with a form to fill. When its completed I have a submit form button to complete the process.

This works fine.

Now I got to notify somebody per email when the form is filled.

So I added this flow step to the save button:

SubmitForm(formEmployee); NotifyFlow.Run(galEmployee.Selected.ID)

With the ID I want to make it clear which record it should get and I want to add the Info from this record in the email.

The Flow is just a simple Power Apps trigger -> Then get row by ID -> Send an Email.

But the flow doesn't run when I click save in power apps.

Am I getting the right ID to get the row?

Or is there another way to get the information that I just submitted in the form to know which email notification comes from which form?

Thanks for your help.

    Hi @Dan47 ,

    There is no reason the Flow should not run with the code you posted. What might be better however is to run the Flow on the OnSuccess of the Form

    NotifyFlow.Run(
     Self.LastSubmit.ID
    )

    but this is not the issue - have you checked to Flow to see if it failed?

    Hi @Dan47 ,

    As @WarrenBelz says, there isn't a reason that it shouldn't run. It would also be wise to run the flow OnSuccess so that if the form doesn't submit, the flow doesn't try to run.

    I sometimes find canvas apps and flows to be a bit temperamental like this. For example, if I make a slight change in my flow, sometimes the trigger breaks. Normally this would be because there is actually an incorrect step in my flow but sometimes I just find it still happens. I tend to just remove the trigger, add it again, and then add the flow back into my app on a button or in your case the OnSuccess property of your form.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @WarrenBelz

    Where is the OnSuccess section of the form?

    The form looks like this:

    The dropdown entry is not available:

    The screenshot attached shows a gallery not a form. Make sure you select your 'form', then the OnSuccess property will appear.

    Hi @lewisbaybutt @WarrenBelz

    I deleted the trigger and added it again but there is no improvement.

    Regarding the flow everything looks normal but there are no flow runs:

    The permissions should be okay because I an running the app an the flow with the same user I created it.

    I would check your form is saving. If it doesnt, the app won't move onto the next step of running your flow. Where is your form? I can only see a gallery attached.

    Have you also checked your flow is even attempting to run? Is it failing, or is it not even being triggered?

    @lewisbaybutt

    okay you are right my form isn't saving.

    The associations between the two tables are not made:

    I know that I need to make forms for model driven apps but with canvas apps I can just add the fields from data verse right? Somehow the info is not found and i suppose that the relations are wrong.

    When I add the flow run at "on success" there is an error that an operator is expected.
