Looking to only display time without date.

Hi, I am trying to produce an output which only displays the time without the date.

I have a flow built off a Microsoft Forms that feeds into an Excel Online Sheet.

One of the outputs is the submission time but ideally I only want the time of the submission (ideally minus the AM PM also)

I have a seperate cell that will need to run a calculation off another cell with a similar time to see what the diference is between the two. (This I can do myself)

I have tried using an expression to only display the time in the submission time but I either get a wrong time or a very large number.

So currently I try using an expression to turn  "3/29/2023 11:26:16 AM" into "11:26"

I used the following expression from "Format Data by Example" "slice(outputs('Get_response_details')?['body/submitDate'], add(indexOf(outputs('Get_response_details')?['body/submitDate'], ' '), 2), add(indexOf(outputs('Get_response_details')?['body/submitDate'], ':'), 3))"

But my output is either a wrong time or a similar number to -6.36111111111111

I may be overcomplicating things? does anyone know of a simple way just to display the time so I can use a simple formula to calculate the time difference?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ben

    Hey @bengerry77

First let's take out the time from date field.

So, you can use the following expression/formula:

    formatDateTime(yourdatefieldfromexcel, 'HH:mm')

This will take out the time for you.

Try this, then let's see how to do time difference.

    I hope this helps 🙂

Hi Sundeep thank you for the reply,

I am not sure I fully understand which field I will be using the texpression in and how exactly I name the field in the expression.

Attached is a screenshot of the flow I have highlighed the two possible fields for the expression?

The "Out" field with the "Clock Out" is a Yes/No Field so it is currently fine & "Clock Date" field is just date I dont need the time from this.

Ideally "Submission Time" will have the time only without date but do I need the express in the "DateTime Format" Field?

    Thanks
