Hi how can i turn the main portal navigation menu to a colorful more rounded menu like something below. Or should this be multiple tabs instead with each tab displaying different web pages. Thanks Esox

There is a specific Web Template called Header that is rendering header for your portal including navigation (open Portal Management app to see list of available web templates). You can check it out to see how it is done. You can modify it, but better to create your own header template and then open your website record and there set your header as Header Template. See this official example from MS on how to render header and primary navigation bar. Portal uses bootstrap 3 for styling so you can check this example from w3school on how to render navbar with it.
