Having trouble with DATE expressions

Hello- Thanks in advance but I'm having troubles getting the date to format correct within an email.

Here is my expression:

formatDateTime('triggerOutputs()?['body/hc_startdate']', 'MM/dd/yyyy')

So the Start Date field is Dynamic but does not seem to want to work:

This is what it looks like in the email before trying to convert it (I need it to display as Month/Day/Year):

Just try removing the single quotes around triggeroutputs

formatDateTime(triggerOutputs()?['body/hc_startdate'], 'MM/dd/yyyy')
