Using Replace Action to remove control characters

I have a string that I need to format as JSON that contains control characters 0x1e and 0x1f. I have tried replace \0x1e with %''% and other variations, but nothing is working. I also have character '' showing up that I need to remove. Any suggestions?

It depends on the string itself. If it is a relatively simple string, you might be able to use regex and simply define what should stay included (negative match) instead of what needs to be replaced (positive match). Can you provide an example?

Thanks for the response. This is a large string that was the output from get text from pdf action, so that's not an option.

You could try creating a separate text file with these special characters and make PAD read it, and use its contents to replace the text in your string.

Otherwise, try using scripting actions, such as a PowerShell script, or a Python script to remove special characters. These scripting actions are usually better equipped to do it than native PAD actions.
