SMTP Connector Problem when Importing Solutions

I am currently facing a problem when importing my managed solution in my production environment. It's only a problem for the SMTP connector. It's saying:

Your app needs this connection. Please edit your app to add it back

Obviously I cannot edit the app in the production environment. In my development environment it's working fine and the connector is already present there.

I have also created all the required connection reference in the solution and it's working fine for the other connectors.

I think it should be something that I am missing. I'm sure many users have used the SMTP connector along with solutions before.

    Hello there,

     

    having the same problem for over 4 years now and didn't find a solution to it yet.

     

    So far the only workaround for me is to actually edit the app in productive environment

    1. Remove the SMTP connector from your app
    2. Add the SMTP connector back to the app (the one you already are using in your environment)
    3. Save the app and publish it

    4. Next time you want to publish a newer Version of the app you obviously need to fix your unmanaged app first
    5. Go into your solution and into the canvas advanced tab to see the solution layers

    6. Remove the unmanaged layer

    7. Import your new solution and start from the top by removing the SMTP connector ...

    Sadly that's all I can tell you for the time being.
