Sharepoint - inherit column values when adding revised item

Hi,

I'm new to Flow (as well as this board) and I've tried to find a solution for my issue, but so far I've had no luck.

We publish a lot of documents to Sharepoint that are revised now and then. To make our files easy to filter, I've added custom columns. What I want to do is, when I upload file "123456_rev2" and there is a in the "123456_rev1" I want to inherit all column values from the previous revision and move the old revision to a "History" folder.

At my previous job, I worked with a solution like this using Sharepoint designer, but I figure it's high time to get to know MS Flow a little better 🙂.

    Hey @Anonymous

    Is there a reason you're not using SharePoint version control which provides lots of benefits above manually versioning different documents? SharePoint version control should cover all your requirements detailed below and aligns to IM best practices

    Use versions and train your users 🙂

    If that is too hard then use document sets and share the columns.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Honestly, I haven't used versioning in Sharepoint, so I'll read up on it.

    For versioning to work I guess the filenames need to be identical.

    Pretty soon our PLM system will handle versioning, and we want the naming from the PLM to be the same in Sharepoint. Sharepoint is mainly used to enhance user friendliness as well as make access easier. The SP site is mirrored in MS Teams and people who won't use the PLM want access to our documentation.

    @Anonymous

    Correct, to use SP versioning the filenames need to be the same.
