As the reassign function of Approval is not quite user friendly (like a teacher asking students in the classroom to raise up their hands if you are absent), it's better to send the approval requests to both the original approver and the backup approver.

However, to the backup approver, he shouldn't be aware of the requests unless the original approver is not available.

I know the "Create an approval" action doesn't offer such options currently. But is there a way to add extra approver using CDS actions? e.g. "Update a record" of an approval

Any other hint please?
