Forbid modification of the item once approval has started

Hello,

I am new with Power Automate. I built an approval workflow from a Sharepoint List, and I would like to forbid modification of the item once the item has been created and the approval process has started.

Do you know if I can do this in Power Automate and how?

Thanks in advance for your help

Camille

    Hello @CS42227,

it is possible to change the item Permissions (e.g. read/write/delete rights) by using the "Send an HTTP request to SharePoint" i'm not to sure how this object works exactly but you should at least get somewhere with this info.

Start Approval -> Edit Item permissions

We currently don't have retention labels set up in our environment yet, but you may be able to apply a retention label that would prevent editing and deletion of the item. I have to imagine you can create a label with those properties, but I have not looked into it yet. This is information from MS on retention labels: Auto Apply Retention Labels in Office 365 Using Content Types and Metadata | Microsoft Docs

And this will show you how to apply one through Power Automate through an https request: Setting a Retention Label in SharePoint from Microsoft Flow – Joanne C Klein. According to this post, this setting will be built into a Power Automate action eventually.

I myself would prefer using a retention label if they work how I anticipate rather than setting unique permissions on all the items in a list. If someone has experience with retention labels, is it possible to handle this scenario with them?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your replies.

In the end, I found a way around by using the following actions :

    - Stop sharing an action or a file (so that no one can access the item once created)

    - Grant access to an item or a folder (so that I can give view access only to the people I want to)
