how to check in real time other desktop flow monitoring called

I call and handle tasks from a different desktop flow in the main desktop flow.

Additionally, I use the Flow Monitoring window to track the progress of the tasks.

Flow Run Control > Monitoring/Notifications

* Activate the Flow Monitoring window feature.

However, when running a desktop flow from flow A to flow B, I cannot track the progress of B flows in the Flow Monitoring window.

In the previous version of WinAutomation, multiple Flow Monitoring windows were created, allowing me to monitor the progress of each flow, which was convenient.

However, with PAD, I can only track the progress of the initial main desktop flow, making it difficult to monitor the process as a whole.

Eventually, I have to wait for the process to finish to check the logs on the web.

Is there a way to monitor the invoked desktop flow in real-time?

Yes it is, but to do that, you need to build your own custom logging functionality in your flow. There is no framework for that natively in PAD.

Hi @song_coach

I have created a simple custom logging flow , This will capture timestamp, loglevel and log message as well.

The changes can occur depending on your requirement.

See below,

I have flow which does RPA Challenge

Now as you see at the top, there is write to csv action which helps to write required headers to CSV file like below

Now, once the headers are added to csv file where logs will be added. Next is to add logs to the file, for that we will be creating a subflow which helps to add log details of specific steps if needed

The subflow looks like this:

This will capture the current datetime and then write some details to csv file like below:

The details added to it are CurrentDateTime, LogLevel, LogMessage , all three are variables out of which we have understood how we got the first variable CurrentDateTime. LogMessage & LogLevel are two variables which are passed from outside of subflow from main flow like below:

In this case, flow is writing log to csv file stating that RPA Challenge website is opened after Launch Chrome action.

See below after flow executes, the log file appears like below:

So whenever you need to write log message, set values of log level and logmessage before invoking the subflow 🙂

I personally prefer writing to plain text files and not CSV, and have a completely different custom logging in my own framework. But it's too complex to describe in a post here.
