Captcha message not showing up

I have setup captcha on the first step of my multistep form. When the user enters the correct captcha, the user is sent to the second step. If the user enters the wrong captcha, the first step is refreshed but there is no message showing up on the UI. I see the returned html has -

Captcha is incorrect, please re-enter captcha.

But the same is not showing up on the UI. I have metadata as well as custom JavaScript running on the first step.

Check if any of your JS is interacting with the id="ValidationSummaryEntityFormView" or the class="validation-summary alert alert-error alert-danger alert-block".
