Load dataverse table values in the session and use it later in the web form steps

Hi,

I'm using fetchXML to load the values that I need for the dropdowns in the webform steps. I need to know if there is a way to load all values in the start of the web form to speed up the steps. I can create a local storage but is there any other way I can create my own session using Javascript to save that information and load from session into dropdown in each step where I need?

    Hi, a few points here:

     

    • Is there any reason for you to be using fetch to populate your dropdown? If this is a dropdown from Dataverse, you don't need to create it manually via Fetch/HTML, you can simply add the field to the form
    • By default, the Portals have a server-side cache, so it's not like the Portals is going to your Dataverse on every page to load the dropdown, it would actually perform a much faster query against the cached database
    • You can look at JS session storage, I must confess I haven't used that in Power Apps Portals as I never really saw the need, technically speaking is probably doable: https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/prop_win_sessionstorage.asp#:~:text=The%20sessionStorage%20object%20stores%20data,day%2C%20week%2C%20or%20year.
