Delete relational data between tables

Hey guys,

I'm making an application that I can generate reports after some time, and I have to keep all the data tracking...

Have that said...

I have some table related, (I'll not use the real structure but) example User, Place and Device, each time that the user send a Device to a new Place, a new row is created in a 3rd table like Devices in Places, that storage the Device key, Place key, User key (as this table have a relation with Place and Device and User) and some other information, in case a Device is deleted, or a User is deleted from the system, I don't want to loose in this table this text / tracking.

Is there a way to remove the parent data and keep this parent data as text in the child table like an historic, is this possible in some way instead of creating new three columns as text to save the Device Name, Place Name and User Name?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, @beeepaiva , I am not aware of a way to do this without creating custom text columns. But have you thought of Deactivating the records in the Parent table instead of deleting them?

Note, The A deactivated record becomes inactive, which means it cannot be edited or used in establishing new relationships with other rows. However, all relationships created with the deactivated item are still available.

    Hey @AhmedSalih,

I didn't think about this option and neither know that Inactive items can't create new relationship or be related, thank you for this!

I also implemented a new config page so the User can see the Inactive date and can Active it if needed!

    Thanks!!!
