If you want to compare two dates, you need to make sure that your dates do not include timestamps. I'm not sure what you have there in the "open date variable", but if there is no timestamp on it, it should be enough to just make sure that you select Get current date and time to only retrieve the current date without the time:
Alternatively, you can convert both dates to text via Convert datetime to text using the same format on both and not including time.
