Microsoft Forms - Long responses lose line-breaks when being inserted into Word template

I have a Microsoft Form with a long text field which asks the responder to provide a fairly detailed response, often across multiple paragraphs.  I'm using Microsoft Flow to automatically populate a Word document with the Form responses.

I haven't had any issues with the majority of fields, however the long format fields which have line-breaks are not appearing correctly.  They appear as a single block of text, ignoring any line breaks in the original submission.

I have already tried changing the settings on the Word template to allow Carriage Breaks, but that's had no effect.

Is there any other way of importing these responses without losing the line breaks?

    Hi @SLeat ,

I did a test on my side, it seems that the Word file does not retain the style of the data, so it lost the line breaks.

The same I used the txt file to do the test, the line break can be preserved.

I am afraid that this problem cannot be solved by MS Flow at present.

    Best Regards,

Hi @v-bacao-msft , I am experiencing the same problem while sending an html email of form responses using flow - the line breaks in long answer boxes gets ignored. Is there any way to fix this is the email body in flow?

    Thanks!

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone found a solution to this problem.

I am capturing a field from MS Form and putting into an email.

I am having the same issue as the text within this field comes out into the email as a large block of text with no carriage returns, making it impossible to read.

The interesting thing is that that same field, put into an MS List, keeps the carriage returns.

Would appreciate any help on how to "insert" the carriage returns into the text.

    Thanks! 🙂

Hi everyone, I finally managed to fix this problem.

In case anyone else needs a solution, this blog explains it perfectly:
