I have the following requirement and wanted to check the feasibility of using PowerApps to achieve it:
- Our solution needs Dynamics 365, naos portal, Staging DB and a tool (probably PowerApps) to update data from DB in CRM
- ‘Project’ data is stored in a staging db. On a need basis, CRM user can pull data from db into CRM. (Project records which are present in CRM, GUID is updated in db)
- When user clicks on new button on project entity in CRM, tool should be triggered. User can enter project name and a combination of other fields in the tool and search for record in db.
- If the record is found in db (but not present in CRM), user has the option/button to create that record in CRM.
- If the record is present in CRM, a link should be present in the tool to open the CRM record.
- The tool can also be triggered from portal. (for example, if there is a lookup field of Project on portal, tool should open)
- Direct creation of project is not allowed.
- All portal users are not CRM users.
Also wanted to know how the authentication model will work for PowerApps when opening from CRM and from portal.
