Help - approval flow with date limit

Hi,

May anyone have some tips how to make an approval flow with a date limit?

I've an "button flow" where the user inputs the users who should approve the document and it works fine.

But I also want to have a date limit for approvals, so when that date comes the document gets approved anyway, and the user who started the flow should be able to see who has opened the document and any comments.

    Hi @jklevela

I dont really understand what you mean by "gets approved anyway, and the user who started the flow should be able to see who has opened the document and any comments", can you explain that please? If you dont get any answer, shouldnt be any comments because noone opened it...

For the date limit part, thats not complicated: at your "Start an approval", click on the 3 dots/Settings, and set a duration, for example 15 days P15D, or 2 minutes: P0Y0M0DT0H2M (keep in mind that the flow max time is 30 days). Insert a parallel branch, in my example "Send an email", here click on the 3 dots/Configure run after, uncheck "if succesful" and check "has failed" and "has timed out".

Check the screenshots and let me know if you need other info.

    Thanks.

"gets approved anyway, and the user who started the flow should be able to see who has opened the document and any comments" - If the date limit is reached without all approvers (one or several) has not approved the document, I want the flow to mark the document as approved. From your answer I understand that I may set the approval to run either way by using tha duration and run the rest of the flow also if the approval fails?

I see it's some detail that may complicate the logic, but I think I have a solution, thanks.

Yes, the flow can continue on the parallel branch with whatever further steps you might need, but its a small problem with that: if your approvals fails the flow will continue, but in Run history you will see that the flow failed even that it didnt (there was no difference in failing a step or the whole flow, not sure if MS fixed this meantime).

So if you get an answer, approve or reject, flow will go on the left branch. If you dont get an answer, after 15 days (or the duration you set), the flow will continue on the right branch.
