PowerApps per App License Applied to Groups

Hi,

Looking for an answer about the Power App per App licencing model, in regards to sharing an App with a group.

If we have one App in an environment which has 100 passes, the App is shared with a group that contains 100 users, and all the users have been assigned a pass - what happens when someone leaves the assigned group and another user joins, can Power Apps detect the change of membership and reassign the passes correctly?

Regards, Andrew

Hello, how application passes are reused is unfortunately not clear or documented.
In a conversation with people from Microsoft they told me that supposedly if a user stops having access to the app, the license is released and can be used by another user.
But it is something that we cannot manage or monitor.

    Hi Alberto,

Thank you for your response. Agreed,  don't think there is any clear documentation regarding how this mechanism works with groups.

When an unlicensed user tries to access an App in an environment where all the passes have been used, Power Apps would need to cross-check what it has assigned with the users in the shared group to see if it can release any licences. Maybe Power Apps periodically checks this on a timer?

Seems picky I know, but there is a significant cost advantage of being able to manage the users that use your Apps, otherwise we would just licence everyone with a Premium Per User licence.

Yes, I suppose that internally, the environment check the passes assigned, the apps shared and enable the license didn't use for the next users. I insist, I suppose that this is the procedure of the product but I don't have evidence.
I have in the backlog, create a little laboratory to confirm this, but I don't have much time now 😑

No problem - we'll assume for now that Power Apps does not dynamically release the user licenses based on group membership.
