Concurrency Control - After 50?

Does anyone know what happens to concurrency control after you hit the 50 max? Is the 51st dependent on the 1st being activated? Or does the 51st operate if any of the first 50 activate?

Here is an example. I have 100 approval emails that are all independent of each other. In an ideal world they would all go out in parallel , but I'm limited to the 50 limit. Does the 51st approval email only go out if the 1st approval email is approved/ rejected? Or does it go out if anyone responds? So if the 2nd person never responds, does that mean that the 52nd approval is never sent?

It just means that the 51-100th operate as though concurrency wasn't enabled. For your scenario, assuming that you have 100 email addresses in the sent, they will still all get sent.  But #50- will be sent after the first 50 are sent.  That doesn't mean they will wait for those actions to be replied to.  Just that they aren't sent at the same time.

Also, Concurrency is just a way to do actions on parallel threads.  It doesn't mean they are coordinated.  It just means that they are all started at the same time.  In your scenario, just because the 50 emails are sent with concurrency enabled it doesn't mean they will all be sent at exactly the same millisecond and it certainly doesn't imply that they will all be delivered at the same time. There is no way to control that.

Here is why I asked the question. When I didn't have concurrency control set, my approvals went out based on the prior response. So 2 would only go out if 1 was responded to.... 3 went out when 2 was responded to, etc. Do you know why 50+ would be different?

Are you using individual Approval actions in succession?  If so then that's the way its designed to work.  But if you use a single Approval with multiple Approvers then all the approvers will be sent whether the first approver has responded or not.

Technically our approval setup is based on single approvals - so every approval should be happening independent of each other. For example with vacation, each request has only one approver - so when that runs there are 100s of vacation requests, but each request has a different approver since each person has a different manager. How do you designate the difference?

That design would normally be done by having a Trigger that fires for each request and then using the Office365Users connector to look up the requestor's manager and sending the approval just to that manager.  Since the Flow fires on each request it adapts for each vacation request to be handled seperately.
