POWER AUTOMATE APPROVAL FLOW DUPLICATE NOTIFICATION

Hi,

apologies if this has been answered before, I've looked every where but can't see what I'm doing wrong.

I have tried to set up a simple approval flow that's triggered if a particular field isnt blank or another equals yes.

it works fine but it just constantly sends out the email and Teams notification.

please can someone show me what's wrong?

HI @Anonymous ,

By definition "Create an approval" action send an email and the next action post in Teams.

This is what your flow do.

What are exactly your expectations ?

Thanks for the reply.

Apologies I wasn't clear in my original message.

the approval emails and notifications send fine,
but once they're approved they send the same approval again. despite the flow being successful

Every other flow I've set up has just sent out 1 email.

It must be something i'm doing wrong but i cant work out what it is.

Is there any chance to update something in your Sharepoint original item during the execution of the flow ?

Thanks again for replying.
the flow is triggered by the SharePoint list being updated and the approval response and comments are updated in the SharePoint list as the final step

Is the same library updated on your last action ?

Imagine that if you update the same document library, you create the premises to trigger the same flow again as the trigger is When an item is created or modified.

Yeah it's the same list, what youre saying makes sense and I was sure i had this set up before but obviously not.

what would be the best way for my process then?

when a particular sharepoint list column is updated - if column is updated with "YES" send approval via teams - wait for approval - update same sharepoint list with response and comments?

You can play a little bit with trigger conditions and find out more how to use this great tool.

Here is a small article about trigger condition, all you need now is to adapt this to your needs. From my point of view I use a special column boolean type and on item creation set the value to true and inside update item action change the value to false. Set trigger to start only when this column value is true.
