default value for multiselect person field based on supervisor

ReportReport
Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a supervisor field and an employee field, I want to get the reports to value and populate the employee field with all the employees that report to them.

this is what I have so far

the label underneath is showing the collected employees' names. so that part is working I just can't figure out how to set the default with this value.

 this is how I collect the "reports to" employees. this is in the "on change" value of the supervisor field

    Can you explain a little more?

    I assume your Employee dropdown is a Combobox.  Is it that you want ONLY the Direct Reports to show in that list?  Or is it that you want all employees to show but only have the DirectReports selected automatically?

    You had said "how to set the default value" - explain that a little further if you can.

    I wanted them to all be selected already. I assume "defaultselecteditems" would be the correct field for that.

    Very good, then set the DefaultSelectedItems property to the following:

    ForAll(Office365Users.DirectReports(ComboBox1.Selected.Email),
     {
     '@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
     Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Email),
     Department:"",
     DisplayName: Email,
     Email: Email,
     JobTitle:".",
     Picture:"."
     }
    )

    Since you appear to only be displaying those names and you want them all selected, this is the same formula you should use on the Items property of that control.

    turns out it was as easy as this. I tried this yesterday but it's working now.
