Displaying data from sharepoint list choice column in powerapps gallery

Hi All,

I am having issue with my app. I have Choice column in my sharepoint list and choices are A, B and C. Then I have chosen B.

After connecting to the powerapps, the data "B" is not shown in my gallery in powerapps.

I want to display the data "B" as label in the gallery. I used ThisItem.'column name' but it is not working.

Can someone help me solve this? Thank you.

    Hi @Thura ,

    For a Choice column you need

    ThisItem.'column name'.Value

    Hi @WarrenBelz  - Sorry to the OP for hijacking this post 😬..but i have a similar problem....you helped me yesterday so i know ive come to the right place!
    I am trying to combine a Search option with a combobox or dropdown selection. The Serch function works on selected columns. See below. But i cannot search in the dropdown / combobox.
    I have a column in my SP called "Category" this is a choice field which shows as a dropdown in the form elsewhere.
    I have tried to add the column as a label within my gallery first : but get an error.

    I would then like to be able to search this column within the gallery via the dropdown / combobox ..

    I hope i made it clear...hoping you can work your magic ...AGAIN!!!!

    Hi @Lasherza ,

    What is the .Value you are using there?

    Hi Warren,

    So to clarify ( apologies. I know in my had what i want but not sure my explanation is clear So I want to :

     * Add a label in the gallery which returns the selection from the original form submission.. I then want to filter on the gallery to return that selection.

    So the column in SP is this ..

    Lasherza_0-1650616053201.png

    So this is the column i want to add in the gallery as a label between the other items the "ID and approved" in the pic below i managed the other items to show in the gallery but not this Category column..not sure about the .Value as i have read in your posts this returns a choice selection. I guess im missing some code.. like .selected perhaps?

    Lasherza_4-1650616343881.png

    I THEN want to filter on the Category column in the gallery...

    Hope it all adds up 😬

    Hi @Lasherza ,

    You might start by reading this blog of mine

    Thanks @WarrenBelz ..your knowledge and blog is amazing and very helpful. I solved the problem using the information contained therein. Maybe could advise why i cannot now have two "search" options . 1. Text box and 1 Combobox on the same gallery perhaps? Each one works well on its own ..but i cannot get them to work in unison. I fear this one is beyond my technical comprehension and that is why i am asking if i am missing any detail of possibly a step or two with regards to collecting the data before trying to filter? Any guidance would be massively appreciated 🙏. I have included the filtering / search code on the Gallery in the diagram below

    Hi @Lasherza ,

    Firstly, can you please post any code in Text also - saves re-typing. You may just need some bracketing as what you have is otherwise correct

    Filter(
     'Change Requests',
     (
     StartsWith(
     Title,
     TextSearchBoxl.Text
     ) ||
     StartsWith(
     'Created By'.DisplayName,
     TextSearchBoxl.Text
     )
     ) &&
     (
     'Category '.Value = ComboBox7.Selected.Value ||
     ComboBox7.Selected.Value=Blank()
     )
    )

    Hi @WarrenBelz - Apologies that is "insensitive" of me. I will remember that always going forward..I will post the original code now -Filter('Change Requests',StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1.Text)||StartsWith('Created By'.DisplayName,TextSearchBox1.Text) && ('Category '.Value=ComboBox7.Selected.Value ||ComboBox7.Selected.Value=Blank()))

    Unfortunately your bracketing change didn't seem to work. To note only the Text search function was working with the above code when combined. The separate code did however work when placed on their own.

    Lasherza_0-1650790967208.png

    i.e)

    1) Text Search  - Filter('Change Requests',StartsWith(Title,TextSearchBox1.Text)||StartsWith('Created By'.DisplayName,TextSearchBox1.Text))

    2) Combobox Filter - Filter('Change Requests','Category '.Value=ComboBox7.Selected.Value ||ComboBox7.Selected.Value=Blank())

    but I will find a way!!! Thanks for all your assistance thus far!

    Hi @Lasherza ,

    Very strange - assuming 'Category ' (if that is the name with a space at the end) is a Choice column, it should work. What results are you getting?
