Quite Complicated design, but i will try my best so that you can understand it.
Assume a list is created for this purposes/demo like below
Two columns are present here Attachment Time and Modification Type.
This design would be assuming that
1) you only make changes to attachments (uploading/deleting/modifying) to list item
2) Also one attachment is uploaded to every list item
Design should be like below:
Let's discusss overall idea behind the design
The flow runs when a item is modfied or added and will check whether the item is created or modified by checking created date and modified date, if both are same it means item is created else item is modified, That is first step in design as shown below. Yes branch represents for created and No branch for modified ones.
Let's discuss what happens when list item is created
Steps are below
1. Flow will check whether attachments are present in newly added list item using dynamic content variable as shown below
if attachments are present, it will follow Yes Branch , else it will follow No branch
Yes branch:
a. Update the list item column Attachment time to created time of list
b. Update the list item column Modification Type as Uploaded
No Branch:
a. Update the list item column Attachment time to created time of list
b. Update the list item column Modification Type as empty
Let's discuss what happens when list item is modified ?
It will check whether the attachments are present in modified list item
Yes Branch:
a. Get list of attachments present in list item
b. Next it will check whether the ModificationType column of modified list item is null or not
if it is null , then it will update that list item Modificattion types as Uploaded and Attachment time as Modfiied time
If it is not null, then it will update the two column based on value present in modification type
a. It will get file metadata so as to get last modified time of the attachment
It will create a switch condition based on Modification Type.
Case 1. If modification type is uploaded:
It will check whether the Attachment Time is not equal to Last Modified time of attachment, if yes, update the status of list item as Modifed in Modification Type as shown above
Case 2: when modification type status is Deleted
Then since earlier Modification Status is Deleted and now attachments has been added, so the status of list item should be changed to uploaded, that has been done above 🙂
No Branch:
No Branch runs when no attachments are present
It will check whether the ModificationType column is not equal to null of current modfiied list item, if not equal, then it means that attachments are earlier present which means attachments are present earlier or may be not present , in that case status of list item should be updated as deleted only.
This is complete design of flow.
Note: Since this flow runs every time when list item is modified or created, also update item within flow would also trigger the flow again, so to make sure that flow only triggers when the attachements are updated not others, then add the condition at the below highlighte point which checks whether any columns apart from Attachments has undergone change, if yes skip this process and end it else do the update 🙂
