Image display mobile adjustments - Only some showing

Hello!

I built a Power App that uses a Sharepoint List that has over 20,000 items, with the PowerApp setting a filter to only display list items with images, which are stored as a hyperlink, with said hyperlink pointing to a Sharepoint Document Library.

After much research and testing, the app is mostly complete, at least, when using a web browser.

When testing on mobile, the images would not display, so I did a lot of research, and found that PowerApps mobile doesn't display images hosted on a SP list that requires login credentials, which is a very odd design choice.

The closest solution I could find was to add the Document Library as a data source to the PowerApp, and set the Gallery Image control's 'Image' property to:
LookUp(
Documents,
Name = Title19.Text,
Thumbnail.Small)

I say this only partially worked, because, for some reason, only SOME images are now displaying, both on browser and on mobile.

I inspected several images on the SP Folder, comparing images that are displaying, and images that are not displaying, and modified some images that are not displaying so that they're the same height/width as some of the images that are displaying. I tried finding any patterns among images, but I couldn't find anything that would either display or not display these images.
The images are not broken, neither on the SP folder, or on their respective list items.

I also cleared cache every time I tested.

I've searched high and low, and this is the closest I've come to a solution.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi @DPiperLB ,

    Yes that is correct - URL-based images will not resolve on mobile devices unless they can be resolved anonymously (not requiring any login - it does not matter if the device is logged into SharePoint elsewhere - the app cannot "see it"). If you connect the Library as a Data Source, you can resolve the image (assuming a gallery here) with

    ThisItem.'{Thumbnail}'.Large

    Thankyou for your reply, @WarrenBelz!
    Unfortunately, 'ThisItem.'{Thumbnail}'.Large does not work for this particular Image field.
    The gallery uses the SharePoint List as the main data source, as each gallery item is meant to display the Part Number, Part name, and image, and if I were to use the document library as the main data source, we would only be able to display the image and part number.

    This is why on the Gallery's Image... Image property is set to:
    LookUp(
    Documents,
    Name = Title19.Text,
    '{Thumbnail}'.Small)'

    This looks up the part number, which is also the Document Library's file name, and sets the 'thumbnail' for it's respective gallery item.
    Currently, it seems that images are displayed randomly, on both mobile and browser.
    Image files have the same name as the part number, so I am confused as to why only some display, and others don't.

    @DPiperLB ,

    I generally use

    LookUp(
     Documents,
     Name = Title19.Text
    ).'{Thumbnail}'.Small

    however your fundamental problem here is that queries on Name are not Delegable, therefore if the file is not in the first 500-2000 records depending on your Delegation limit, then it will not be found and simply not display.

    One solution is to populate the file name into a Text field on the record (you can do this with a Flow when the file is created) and then query on this which will be Delegable.

    By 'Record', do you mean the Sharepoint List record, Sharepoint document file, or the 'BrowseGallery1.Selected' PowerApps record?
    I attempted adding a 'FileName' column on the SharePointList, and then adding the file name with extension, but the image is still not displaying on random images.

    A more in depth explanation:

    • Two data sources
      • SharePoint list holds Title, Name and various other fields. Has attachments enabled, stores image as a hyperlink. Sharepoint List has over 20,000 list items, so requires a view filter on PowerApp to display anything. Currently, app is displaying only list items with an image attached. Hyperlink ALWAYS points to Sharepoint Folder...
      • Sharepoint folder holds image with name set to match it's respective list's 'Title'.

    • PowerAutomate, Currently has two flows
      • EditImage - Triggers when the user clicks a 'Submit' button. This submit button uses SubmitForm(EditForm1) to add image (taken by camera control) to it's respective list item.
        Since we only want each list item to only hold one image at a time, this image is 'created' in the Sharepoint folder, with the list item's 'Title', and appending ".jpg" at the end. Once an image is created in the SP Folder, the list item's attachment is automatically deleted.
      • RefreshList - Triggered when a user directly uploads a picture to the Sharepoint Folder. So long the picture's name matches a List Item's 'Title', image is assigned as that list item's image URL.

    BrowseGallery1's main data souce to populate the list is the Sharepoint List, since it holds both the Title, name, and various other fields. The list also has a 'HasImage' boolean that's used to filter images with images and images without. The issue with this gallery is that, since it uses the SP List as a data source, images will not display on mobile.
    The only work around was the above "LookUp" function, but this only works for some images. This workaround does not work on the 'Details' page, as images are always invisible on said page.

    @DPiperLB ,

    I meant what you have done - add a Text column (such as you have with FileName) to your SharePoint Library. I assume you have back-populated all the existing records. Depending on the number of records in your Library, you may also need to index this column in SharePoint. I also assume that the gallery is displaying records from the List and that Title19 is a Text label containing the file name and extension of the relevant Library file. If all of this is true, then

    LookUp(
     Documents,
     FileName = Title19.Text
    ).Thumbnail.Small

    Should display any Image type files and some others such as PDFs. Note that there are a number of file types that do not support Thumbnail resolution.

    Thankyou again for your reply, and your patience.

    On the Sharepoint Library, I created a column, named 'FileName'. I set my gallery control's 'Items' property to:

    LookUp(Documents, FileName= (Title19.Text)).Thumbnail.Small

    This originally made it so no images display at all. I then changed the '(Title19.Text))' bit to '(Text19.Text)&".jpg"'. At first, this didin't display anything, but then I remembered to clear my browser cache.

    This is now displaying all images on both desktop and on mobile.

    Thank you so much for your help, @WarrenBelz !
