How to concatenate with @ symbol

Hey Guys,

I am trying to create an email address based off a choice field. The choice field will be a users first and last name, eg. Mike Smith will be one of the choices

I then want to pull that choice value and make an email with that. This is what I have so far:

  • I had to convert that choice field to a string so I did the following

  • then from there, I needed to create the email so I initialized another variable named 'Email' and then set the variable as the following

concat(first(split(variables('AssigneeEmailToString'),' ')),'.',last(split(variables('AssigneeEmailToString'),' ')),'@email.com')

therefore I am wanting the output to be 'Mike.Smith@email.com' however it is currently coming out as below

I am guessing this is something to do with using the @ symbol. How can I get this to work?

Cheers, Amber

    Hi @Amber_L ,

I think it may be due to your split expression as this should work.  Maybe try inputting it to a compose action and verify the correct value first.

that still doesnt work, could it be something to do with the fact that I am pulling the names through a 'Get Items' with an ODATA filter?

    Hi @Amber_L ,

The concat expression is used to join multiple strings together.  As long as the input string is correct, it will concatenate them.

Can you please use a compose action and verify the first string in your concat.  If it is incorrect, then it makes it easier to work backwards.

Yes so I did compose and this is what the output is:

    {"@odata.type":"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference","Id":5,"Value":"Matt.Smith"}

    Hi @Amber_L ,

The easiest way is to parse the JSON into the string and then you can reference the individual values in your concat() expression.

    1) Add a Parse JSON action in place of your compose

    2) Set the same input

    3) Click on 'Generate from sample' and paste in the same JSON string

    4) In your Concat(), reference the Value key from your Parse JSON
