Using filter in a text label Lookup - expected text value error

Hello,

I have a combo box sourced from Oracle and a text label.  The combo box selection is an ID from an Oracle view that is a parent ID to several other views.

Example

Person Table                                 Employee Table

Columns  ID      Person                Columns ID         Person_ID     Role

                123    Bob                                      111       123             Manager

                456    Bill                                        222       456             Analyst

                789    Mike                                     333       789             SME

Person_ID is a foreign key in the Employee Table, derived from the Person Table.

The Power App has a dropdown called SelectedPerson with the 3 Person selections from the Person Table.

I am trying to figure out a formula to use in a text label that will take the ID value from the dropdown selection, and use it a filter to display the Role column value from the row in the Role table whose Person_ID matches the value just chosen in SelectedPerson.Selected.ID.

I have the Role table added to my App. Is this possible with a text label formula or do I have to look into triggering an SQL flow for something so simple like a parent/foreign key query?

I have tried LookUp('ROLES_TABLE', PERSON_ID = SelectedPerson.Selected.ID) but get "Expected Text value" error. Not sure how I specify the specific column I want (Role) which is indeed Text...

EDIT : Figured out how to add the column now it works - LookUp('ROLES_TABLE', PERSON_ID = SelectedPerson.Selected.ID, ROLE)

    Hi @glowerpower ,

How about using the gallery for the roles?

Filter roles the Item property of the gallery with the value similar to Filter('Evaluation Notes',User.User=ComboBox1.Selected.User)

If I answer your question then please mark it as verified.

Let me know if I can provide you with more details.

    Thanks
    Regards,
