Flow not working - File system

Posted on by

Hi, I'm trying to set up a simple flow to copy an excel file and upload to a Sharepoint folder using when a file is created or modified in file system.

The folder structure is solutions\reporta\daily 2021\daily sept\for Sharepoint.  For sharepoint is a subfolder under daily sept.  I'm not sure if that's the reason I'm unable to set this up.

There are reports in the For Sharepoint subfolder so content is available.

Any input appreciated.

This could be due to an issue with the credentials you are using for the File System connection. It seems indicate that the account used for the connect does not have access to the resource.

Hi - I do have access.  The 2nd attempt confirms this.  I also went thru file manager to ensure I can access the file path and open the excel files housed there

And both actions are using the same connection?

So instead of a local file system, your File System root folder what does your root folder point to?

Yes I have tried to set up different connectors.  But both scenarios were using the same.  the root folder resides on our network drive.

I had read that PowerAutomate may have issues accessing subfolders.  Parent/child and embedded within the child the folder I need.  If that makes sense.

    See Triggers:

When a file is added or modified (properties only)

This operation triggers a flow when one or more files are added or modified in a folder. The trigger does not fire if a file is added/updated in a subfolder. If it is required to trigger on subfolders, multiple triggers should be created.

When a file is created (properties only)

This operation triggers a flow when one or more files are created in a folder. The trigger does not fire if a file is added/updated in a subfolder. If it is required to trigger on subfolders, multiple triggers should be created.

That is helpful, so from what I understand I would need to create multiple triggers.  Will look at how to create a trigger on a subfolder first than.  Thanks

Unfortunately yes. The File System connector is deficient and constrained in features, but then Microsoft want us to move all our content over OneDrive, SharePoint and Azure Files etc.
