Hi, I'm new to Power Automate and would like to build a flow to perform some Excel tasks. For context, I'm experienced with Python, and the following task can be done with Python. However, I'm moving to Power Automate as its cloud integration will provide a better workflow experience for non-technical users in the organization.
Task description:
- There are 2 files: dog.xlsx and cat.xlsx. The former is populated with data, while the latter is empty.
- Both files contain certain complex forms, not a regular table. You can think about a regular Tax form in Word and its layout is mapped 1:1 to an Excel sheet.
- I need to retrieve information from certain cells (i.e., A1, B7, C66) in dog.xlsx and populate to some certain cells in cat.xlsx (i.e., B2, C8, D11).
- I have a folder with hundreds of files, like dog1.xlsx, dog2.xlsx, ..., dog200.xlsx. I would like to create their respective cat, like cat1.xlsx, cat2.xlsx, ..., cat200.xlsx.
- I have a folder, which contains several children folders storing dog files (as in step 4), I would like to choose only the root folder, and a flow will traverse all children folders to perform the task.
Technically, we can create an API for this Python script, but it's perhaps overkill. Any guidance with Power Automate is appreciated!
