Email to Excel - how to prevent entire html message from being parsed as well?

Hello Community,

I am currently building a flow that listens to certain Outlook-Mails from our CRM system. There are a few variables in these mails that I want to parse in an excel sheet(OneDrive).

I found this ticket that seemed to solve my issue https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Extract-text-from-body-of-an-email-and-create-new-rows-in-excel/td-p/104708

BUT... I always get the entire HTML Message of the Email in addition to the part of the body I want for that cell.

I have tried many things. Even when I stripped most functions out, including the "html to text" thing and just said "when a mail comes just write test1" and it still parses that HTML junk:

Am I missing something obvious? I am anxious for your answers 🙂

kind regards

Alex

    Hello @AlexanderEV ,

please refer to the following discussion:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Converting-HTML-to-Text/m-p/266492#M27056

You should be able to add the "Html to text" action.

If I have answered your question, please mark your post as Solved.
If you like my response, please give it a Thumbs Up.

    Hello @MarconettiMarco ,

adding "Html to text" was the first thing I did.

    """

I have tried many things. Even when I stripped most functions out, including the "html to text" thing and just said "when a mail comes just write test1" and it still parses that HTML junk:

    """

Adding it does not change anything.

    Dear @AlexanderEV ,

I've added the following action and it's working:

Could you please, if you're allowed, pass me your html so that I can test it?

    Hello @MarconettiMarco ,

turns out I was missing the obvious: My expression, where I cut my desired substring was just faulty and returned the entire message.

Still confused though why the flow still passed the entire html text when I configured my flow to just write a fixed string ("test1").

Anyways thanks for your help 🙂

    BR,

    Alex
